Reminders, deadlines and events

* The National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NSF EPSCoR) has released a program solicitation for Research Infrastructure Improvement Program: Research Infrastructure Improvement Track-4: EPSCoR Research Fellows (RII Track-4) solicitation NSF 18-526. The grant provides opportunities for non-tenured investigators to further develop their individual research potential. Faculty and staff interested in applying must submit a Notice of Intent to proposals@wichita.edu by Friday, Jan. 19. PIs may be requested to submit mini-proposals for an internal competition with a quick turnaround to determine who will go forward with full proposals to NSF. * The Office of Diversity and Inclusion commemorates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through powerful programming and partnerships on campus and in the greater Wichita community. Enjoy a day of events in the Wichita community. Our office will be participating in the parade at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 13 at the Christian Faith Centre (1130 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS 67211). We encourage those participating in the parade to wear your Shocker gear or student organization T-shirts and bring banners and a canned good as entry into the parade. * The Office of Research will host a brown bag workshop "Conflicts of Interest & Time Commitments" from noon-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, in 405 Jardine Hall. This workshop will provide an overview of WSU policy, the disclosure process, management plans and examples of conflicts of interest from academic settings that have made headlines. Please bring your lunch. Tea, water and dessert will be served. Registration is required through myTraining.

* The Office of Admissions plans to be open for extended hours from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. today (Monday, Jan. 8) through Thursday, Jan. 11.

* If you want to request an SPTE (Student Perception of Teaching Effectiveness) to be administered to your pre-session course, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?6123. Download the form, fill it out and email the form to sandra.ranney@wichita.edu or print it and mail it to box 107. You also have the option of contacting the office at 978-3384.

* An open lab will be offered for those involved in editing / approving the academic sections of the upcoming catalog. This come-and-go training from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, in 124 Jabara Hall, is a hands-on opportunity to have questions answered. A short introduction to the software will take place during the first 30 minutes of the session. Registration is not required. If you have questions, contact lisa.fleetwood@wichita.edu. A similar session will be held from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, in 124 Jabara Hall.

* ThyssenKrupp Elevator Services is conducting repairs and renovations on elevator #4 at Clinton Hall beginning now to Friday, Jan. 12. The elevator will be out of service during this time. If you have any concerns, contact the Physical Plant at 978-3444.
