Wichita State University President John Bardo announced that Rick Muma will serve as the interim chief academic officer effective today (Monday, Jan. 8). Tony Vizzini, who served as the chief academic officer since 2013, will be on leave this spring.

"I'm pleased that Rick Muma has agreed to serve as the interim," said Bardo. "He has proven himself a highly capable leader in major matters, and I've asked him to sustain the strong momentum in Academic Affairs during his time in this interim role."

Bardo said the university will conduct a national search for a permanent chief academic officer.
