Wichita Women in Health Professions host human trafficking awareness event

January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month and to raise awareness about human trafficking, the Wichita Women in Health Professions (WWHP) is hosting an event from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita (KUSM-W) in the Sunflower Room.

The event includes a panel discussion by Karen Countryman-Roswurm, executive director of the WSU Center for Combating Human Trafficking; Tina Peck, program coordinator of Forensic Nursing Services, and Nicole Ensminger, human trafficking response program manager, at Via Christi Hospitals; Cathy Turner, president and CEO, Hope Ranch for Women; and Karla Armbrister, outreach manager, Wichita Family Crisis Center. They will share local initiatives to help identify and prevent human trafficking.
