WSU Criminal Justice program ranked by US News and World Report

Wichita State University's Master of Arts in Criminal Justice has been ranked one of the U.S. News and World Report's Best Online programs. Rankings released today on Jan. 9) place WSU's master's program as No. 28 in the country.

The programs chosen for the list were ranked based on five categories: student engagement; faculty credentials and training; student services and technology; peer reputation; and admissions selectivity.

"WSU's ranking helps to show the nation what we've known about our CJ program all along -- that we have one of the top online programs in the nation," says Mark Porcaro, executive director of Online Learning.

As Wichita State Online continues to grow, he says, the concern isn't just to reach students who need access to the degrees they need to progress in their careers or find new careers. It's also about providing a quality education that includes forming connections with faculty, fellow students and WSU as a whole.

"WSU's online programs are in the unique position of not being too large for our students, so they don't feel like just another drop in a sea of students," Porcaro says. "With these rankings, we can prove through a non-partial source that we offer programs recognized for their quality."

Increasing enrollment in online programs is one of WSU's Strategic Enrollment Management goals. Growth in the past year has been accomplished by continuing to recruit regionally and nationally and working with faculty, department chairs and deans to offer new online programs.
