Women in Public Service membership

Women in Public Service (WPS) is an association of public service professionals created "to inspire past, current and future generations by addressing topics relevant to women in public service, while instilling knowledge through education, networking and professional development that strengthens the leadership in our local government and communities." All university employees are public servants and are invited to join.

WPS hosts bi-monthly events throughout the year for networking and learning together at central locations in Wichita. Last year we enjoyed hearing from influential leaders like Deborah Fraser of KMUW and Admiral Windwagon Smith Wendy Johnson. We learned from mentors who had weathered career change and come out on the other side and we celebrated dedicated elected leaders Lavonta Williams, Janet Miller and Marcey Gregory.

Our first event of 2018 will be Thursday, Feb. 15, and will feature Wichita Fire Chief Tammy Snow, the city's first female fire chief, who will share about how she leads as a woman in a male-dominated profession.
