* A talk on Alexandrov geometry, a generalization of Riemannian geometry will be presented at 3 p.m. today (Friday, Jan 26) in 372 Jabara Hall. Refreshments will be served at 2:30 p.m. in 353 Jabara Hall. John Harvey from Cardiff, Wales, will present "Equivariant Alexandrov geometry via Palais's classification of group actions."

* The nomination deadline has been extended for the 2018 Unclassified Professional (UP) Distinguished Service Awards to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31. * The Rocky Mountain Regional U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), in collaboration with partners located across the Rocky Mountain region, hosts quarterly interactive sessions with experts from the USPTO's Trademark Assistance Center (TAC), which is based at USPTO Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. * The Office of Research will hold a brown bag workshop on "Developing Budgets: How to Avoid a Budget Battle Before a Grant Goes Out" from noon-1:30 p.m. Friday Feb. 2, in 405 Jardine Hall. The workshop will cover allowable costs, WSU rates, travel, cost match, cost recover and how to build flexibility into grant budgets. Please bring your lunch. Tea, water and dessert will be provided.
