Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast
* WSU has a hiring process that relies heavily on the search chair for elements of the process that they should not be burdened with. We are addressing one of those elements with a change to the offer process for benefit eligible non-teaching positions. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?6210 for more information.
* The nomination deadline for the 2018 Unclassified Professional (UP) Distinguished Service Awards is 5 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 31). Go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?6193 to learn more. Email questions to jana.henderson@wichita.edu.
* The University Bookstore is having a one-day-only special featuring $14 crew sweatshirts! The sale starts at noon today (Wednesday, Jan. 31) in store only, while supplies last. Limit three per customer, not valid with any other discounts.
* A mystery performance piece that has traveled the world lands in Wichita at 7 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 31) in the CAC Theater. The Maze has bewildered audiences for the past decade with its innovative approach to entertainment. Led by magician Jim Munroe and magicians Stewart True and Brice Harney, the Maze pairs storytelling with stunning illusions to create a unique, memorable performance. Admission is free.
* Overnight tonight (Wednesday, Jan. 31) Information Technology Services will upgrade the university's voicemail system. The upgrade resets all of the PINs used to access voicemail, so a temporary PIN will be set on each mailbox. You and/or your department should have received an email listing your temporary PIN. If you haven't seen that email, please check your junk folder, then talk to the person in your department responsible for telephone billing. If the billing contact doesn't have a PIN for you, he or she should email telecomservices@wichita.edu and we'll get the information to you. WSU support will never ask you for your voicemail PIN. If you need assistance, we'll confirm your identity and then reset your PIN for you. If someone contacts you asking for your PIN, they're a scammer; please don't speak with them further.
* You're invited to attend the WSU Opera Theater presentation of "Scenes and Songs" at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, in Wiedemann Hall. Admission is free.
* Shocker Blast is the email newsletter for WSU students. Go to http://www.wichita.edu/shockerblast to see the current edition.
