Reminders, deadlines and events

* In a competitive world, knowing your audience and speaking effectively is vital to professional and academic success. Learn how to synthesize your research, use jargon persuasively and explain the significance of your findings to different audiences at this event from noon-1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 31) in 142 RSC. Lunch will be available for the first 30 people. Improve your overall presentation skills and information to help you distill research projects or other work into a brief presentation or elevator talk.

* A mystery performance piece that has traveled the world comes to Wichita at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 31) in the CAC Theater. Led by magician Jim Munroe and magicians Stewart True and Brice Harney, the Maze pairs storytelling with stunning illusions to create a unique, memorable performance. Admission is free.

* The Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) invites you to its first spring semester meeting focusing on its partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 5:30-7 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 1) in 338 Experiential Engineering Building.

* Join the Community Service Board with Food Bank Fridays at the Kansas Food Bank from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2. Carpooling will be coordinated with departures at 1:30 p.m. from the RSC. * We hope you're getting excited for Wichita State Homecoming 2018, Shocker Space Jam! We have a week full of events to help foster a strong sense of community among Shocker Nation. * Applications are being sought for Wichita State's 2018 Senior Honors 2018 awards. This is considered to be one of the most prestigious honors a student can receive at WSU.
