Reminders, deadlines and events

* The application deadline for the James J. Rhatigan Leadership Scholarship has been extended to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Applications must be turned in to the Student Government Association Office in 219 RSC.

* Learn together how to understand stress and navigate it successfully to the envy of your peers from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in 262 RSC. Discover how to manage your energy now, not your time, and use the power of perspective to create personal success in school, career and life.

* Join the Exercise Science, Athletic Training and Team K-12 student organizations in their inaugural 3-on-3 basketball tournament fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, in the Heskett Center gym. In addition to the 3-on-3 tournament, the event will also host a free throw, 3-point and half-court competition. Entry fees are due by Thursday, Feb. 8; $25 per team and $10 for individual events. * The College of Education and Career Development Center are excited to host local sport and exercise organizations at the Sport and Exercise Career Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, in the Heskett Center lobby. * The College Access Retention Success (CARS) Conference will be held from 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Feb. 13, in 265 RSC. Register at http://www.wichita.edu/CARS. Light refreshments will be provided.

* Kappa Kappa Gamma will host two events for women interested in Greek Life and joining Kappa. The first event is at 7 p.m. tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb. 6) where we make valentines for WSU's Greek community. Our second event at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, involves making tie blankets to donate to the Wichita Children's Home. There will be snacks, drinks, information and great conversation at both events located at Kappa's house across 21st Street from campus.

* Safe Zone LGBTQ & Ally Training will be available from 2:30-5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, in 265 RSC. The Safe Zone goal is to provide a safe and supportive network to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities at WSU, and to provide safe spaces on campus that are highly visible and easily identifiable. * Applications are being sought for Wichita State's Senior Honors 2018 awards. This is considered to be one of the most prestigious honors a student can receive at WSU. * Join Community Service Board in its biggest event of the semester, Wu's Big Event VIII starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. A kick-off will begin in the RSC Shirley Beggs Ballroom. Participants will then load the buses and go to a service site. Volunteers will work until 1 p.m. and return to the ballroom for lunch and reflection.
