* Are you a business student or interested in learning more about the Barton School of Business? If so, attend the Inside Scoop ice cream social from 5:30-7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 7) in the Shirley Beggs Ballroom, third floor, RSC. Free ice cream sundaes and T-shirts will be given to those who attend.
* Students are invited to attend the first talk of the Spring Language and Linguistics Colloquium Series at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 8) in 208 Hubbard Hall. Jane Johnson from the University of Texas at Austin will give her presentation "Reflecting on Reflection: How Community Service Becomes Service-Learning."
* Join the Exercise Science, Athletic Training and Team K-12 student organizations in their inaugural 3-on-3 basketball tournament fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, in the Heskett Center gym. In addition to the 3-on-3 tournament, the event will also host a free throw, 3-point and half-court competition. Entry fees are due by tomorrow (Thursday, Feb. 8); $25 per team and $10 for individual events. Register online at http://www.wichita.edu/esso
* The Shocker New Venture Competition (SNVC) will hold free training sessions for any student interested in entering the competition. The workshops will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9 and 16, on the second floor of Devlin Hall. These sessions will sharpen the skills necessary for success in SNVC. * The application deadline for the James J. Rhatigan Leadership Scholarship has been extended to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15. Applications must be turned in to the Student Government Association Office in 219 RSC.
* You still have time to apply for fall 2018 study abroad programs and scholarships. We have many options at exchange partner universities and through our new MAUI Consortium of European universities that allow students to pay WSU tuition rates. * Join Community Service Board in its biggest event of the semester, Wu's Big Event VIII, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. A kick-off will begin in the RSC Shirley Beggs Ballroom. Participants will then load the buses and go to a service site. Volunteers will work until 1 p.m. and return to the ballroom for lunch and reflection.
