Media invited to global Invent for the Planet event at Wichita State
Various WSU student groups will spend the weekend developing products to make the world a better place for the inventors of tomorrow. The competition is hosted by student-run organization Shocker Startup and aims to motivate student innovators, entrepreneurs and creative thinkers to come together, apply design thinking and find solutions to difficult and wide ranging problems.
Students from 13 other universities from Idaho to Thailand will be working on the same issues at the same time, and WSU students will interact and collaborate with students on the other side of the world, learning what it means to be a global innovator.
Media are invited to see the competition Friday, Feb. 16-Sunday, Feb. 18, in the Experiential Engineering Building lobby at WSU. Teams will present their solutions to judges for a chance to win more than $500 in prizes.
Tentative Schedule:
4-10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16
8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17
8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18
The best media opportunities will be Saturday morning with students busy on ideas and the final pitches at 3 p.m. Sunday.
