Survey results from Hanover Research Study

Each year the Office of Admissions collaborates with Academic Affairs and Hanover Research to conduct surveys of admitted students to learn more about their choice to attend -- or not attend -- Wichita State. This year, more than 635 responses were gathered from students who were admitted to attend Wichita State during fall 2017, which helps us gain a better understanding of why students enroll.

One key finding for this year -- which was consistent with survey results from last year -- is that enrolled students tend to learn about WSU through personal connections. In contrast to non-matriculating respondents, enrolled students are more likely to report that they learned about WSU due to: "knowing someone who attended WSU" (57 percent vs. 39 percent), "word-of-mouth" (40 percent vs. 30 percent), "contact with a high school teacher or counselor" (39 percent vs 27 percent) and "contact with an admissions officer" (22 percent vs. 16 percent).

The takeaway for the campus community is that the power of a personal connection to Wichita State is critical to a student's decision to enroll.
