Ability Ally and Foundations of Accessibility
Ability Ally is required of all instructional staff and can be taken in-person or online through Blackboard. Go to MyTraining to sign up for the in-person version of Ability Ally or log in to Blackboard and look for the box titled "Ability Ally Training for Faculty" in the middle of the page. Click the link you find there to enroll in the online version of the training. Ability Ally takes about two hours in both formats.
Foundations of Accessibility is recommended for all instructional staff. This course is much more detailed and contains necessary technical training to assist faculty in choosing and creating accessible course materials.
Foundations of Accessibility is available only online as a Blackboard class. Anyone with an instructional role should be enrolled in this course already. To check to see if you are, log in to Blackboard and go to "My Courses." There you should see Foundations of Accessibility listed under "Courses Where You Are: Student." If you do not see the course there, please email your WSU ID to Instructional Design and Access at IDA@wichita.edu and ask to be enrolled in the course.
Working through all of the content in the Foundations of Accessibility course will take about as much time as you would expect to devote to a three-hour undergraduate course. Staff can also request enrollment in Foundations of Accessibility
