Survey results from Hanover Research Study

Each year, the Office of Admissions collaborates with Academic Affairs and Hanover Research to conduct surveys of admitted students to learn more about their choice to attend - or to not attend - Wichita State. This year, more than 635 responses were gathered from students who were admitted to attend Wichita State during fall 2017.

According to data from respondents, applicants were most likely to also apply to KU, K-State and Butler Community College. Newman and Friends shared the next highest concentration of applicants, followed by Hutchinson and Cowley Community Colleges.

Students reported attending the community colleges at rates higher than in previous years' studies, which is likely a reflection of cost being the number one deterrent to attending WSU.

While it's important to note that many students choose community colleges for their general education, many of those same students will take a second look at transferring to Wichita State at the end of their time at a community college. To that end, according to data just released last month by the Kansas Board of Regents, Wichita State is once again the number one transfer destination in Kansas, a title earned for seven years in a row.

WSU is the number one transfer destination for students from Butler, Cowley, Hutchinson and Pratt Community Colleges. For more information, go to http://www.wichita.edu/thisis/stories/story.asp?si=3933
