* The deadline for University Research / Creative Award (URCA) applications is Friday, April 6. URCA funding allows recipients to retool or reestablish productive research / creative projects agenda. * Mary B. Lucas, author of "Lunchmeat & Life Lessons," will be featured in a special breakfast presentation, "How to Bring Out the Best in Yourself and Others," from 8-10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at Holiday Inn Wichita East. * Register for the 5th Annual Gender & Sexuality in Kansas Conference on Friday, March 30, in the RSC, at http://www.wichita.edu/genderconference. * The Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will host Dr. David Voran for a lunchtime talk, "The Medicine that Awaits You," at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in 200 Lindquist Hall. He has a passion for using innovation to extend healthcare to low-income patients, is a practicing family physician and assistant professor at UMKC. Learn more about the versatile skills needed to practice medicine and what being a doctor is really like from a WSU alumnus. Pizza will be provided for lunch. LaunchPrep, a partnership between the e2e Accelerator and WSU's Center for Entrepreneurship, provides your early-stage company access to a select group of Wichita's most successful entrepreneurs. * The Fire and Safety Department will test fire alarms in buildings across campus between 7 a.m.-4 p.m. today (Friday, March 23) through Tuesday, March 27. During the test the fire alarm will sound briefly for 10-20 seconds. This is only a test of the system. If the alarm goes longer than this test time or at any time not during the designated test time, treat the alarm as a real alarm and evacuate the building.

* LEAD Conference is a regional leadership drive-in conference that is being held on June 6. This year, LEAD Conference is looking for individuals who are passionate about leadership development to facilitate a workshop session, provide a presentation or give a TED-Talk style presentation on a leadership topic that's relevant to faculty, staff and students.
