Reminders, deadlines, events and Shocker Blast

* The Honors Associate Dean search has been narrowed to four candidates. Each candidate will make a presentation about this role and ideas for advancing Honors. * All women on campus are invited to a self-defense training class from 4:30-6 p.m. today (Friday, March 30) in 145 Heskett Center. The event is presented by Muslimahs for Change, and the instructor is from the organization Female and Fearless. The cost is $5 at the door.

* On Monday, April 2, half of Lot 24 (parking lot south of Henrion Hall across 17th Street) will be blocked until 4 p.m. for an ACT conference.

* Violinist Betul Soykan and the Kansas Piano Trio will be featured at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Wiedemann Hall. Soykan and pianist Brad Baker will perform Rachmaninoff's most known and beloved chamber work, the Sonata op. 19, originally composed for cello and transcribed by Soykan for violin. * The University of Kansas requests proposals from humanities faculty and graduate students from across the state for innovative presentations with a "haunted humanities" theme. Accepted projects will receive up to $1,000 in support, based on the proposed budget and level of work and engagement. The application deadline is Tuesday, April 17. * Registration is open for the 2018 International Trade Day Conference at the Lawrence DoubleTree. The early bird rate is $50 through Monday, April 30, and $75 beginning May 1. * SAC is recruiting organizations to participate in the Spring 2018 Finals Frenzy Week April 30-May 5. Finals Frenzy takes place each semester during finals week in hopes to reduce stress through educational and entertaining programs. * Please respond to the Shocker Pride Celebration invitation and confirm attendance by Wednesday, April 4, at http://www.wichita.edu/shockerpridersvp. The reception to meet and greet the honorees will be at 3 p.m., followed by the awards presentation at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11.
