Chronic disease self-management program

Do you live with arthritis, diabetes, heart or lung disease, asthma or the effects of a stroke on a daily basis? Do you care for an individual who has a chronic condition? If so, join us for a free six-week program researched and designed to help improve health -- one step at a time. Kansans Optimizing Health is sponsored by the Kansas Department of Health and Education and the Center for Physical Activity and Aging at WSU, and facilitated by Ruth Bohlken. This workshop meets for six consecutive weeks for two hours starting Saturday, Oct. 3.

Learn to control pain, deal with fatigue, begin an exercise program, increase energy level, handle stress and relax, eat well to live well, use medications effectively, solve problems and meet personal goals, talk to your physician about your health, and make treatment choices.

The first workshop meets Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.-noon from Oct. 3 through Nov. 7. The sign-up deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The second workshop meets Tuesdays from 5:30-8 p.m. from Oct. 6 through Nov. 10. The sign-up deadline for this workshop is Friday, Oct. 2.
