Regional Institute on Aging 2018 grant awardees
Kyoung Hag Lee, associate professor of social work and Director of the Social Work Research and Evaluation Lab, will lead a research project titled "Limited English Proficiency, Depression Literacy and Stigma, and Depression among Asian Immigrant Elders in Kansas" with Amy Chesser, assistant professor of Public Health Sciences, and Betty Smith-Campbell, professor of nursing and 2018-19 Faculty Senate President, serving as Co-PIs.
Rui Ni, associate professor of psychology and Director of the Visual Perception and Cognition Lab, will lead a project titled "Effects of Racket Sports-Playing on Older Adult Cognition and Balance: Evidence from Cross-Sectional and 12-month Longitudinal Studies" with Jeremy Patterson, Katherine & Edith Erker Endowed Professor, director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Innovation, and director of the Human Performance Lab, serving as Co-PI.
Both projects will include undergraduate researchers to further Wichita State University's commitment to providing applied learning and research experiences to all undergraduate students. Each grant is $20,000, with funding provided by a gift from the estate of Evelyn Cassat.
