The media are invited to come to New World of Open Government: Tweeting, Scavenging and Data Mining from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in 203 Rhatigan Student Center at Wichita State University. The event is part of Communication Week activities hosted by the Elliott School of Communication.

Many forms of government claim to be more transparent, but walls still go up. How has new technology changed how reporters and citizens can dig a little deeper to find that once-hidden gem? We'll reveal exclusive results of an Elliott School of Communication audit of government transparency.

The moderator will be Randy Brown, ESC senior fellow and executive director of the Kansas Sunshine Coalition

Panelists are Pat Dooley, ESC graduate coordinator, and Ron Sylvester, multimedia storyteller for the Wichita Eagle.
