WSU awards posthumous degree in Jessie Foust's name

Wichita State University will send a diploma posthumously to the parents of Jessie Foust on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Foust, who would have been eligible to graduate this month with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work, was the victim of a shooting that was discovered on Thanksgiving Day.

"The faculty, staff and students of the School of Social Work were deeply saddened by the tragic death of Jessie Foust," said Linnea GlenMaye, director, School of Social Work. "As a social work student and AmeriCorps worker, she exemplified the ideals of our profession in her work with children and families. The Student Organization of Social Work is planning a fundraising event to help raise support funds for her young children. We will remember Jessie for her outgoing smile and dedication to serving others."
