Many WSU units have international faculty and staff working in H-1B (Specialty Worker) visa status. Acquiring H-1B status will take longer as of Jan. 1, because of the U.S. Department of Labor's centralizing of the Prevailing Wage Determination process. Departments wanting to obtain H-1B status for their faculty or staff must plan for longer processing times. This includes premium-processing petitions. The extent of delay is not yet known.
