Rhatigan Student Center completes refurbishment of Fireplace Lounge

Wichita State Shockers were treated to a surprise after winter break. The Rhatigan Student Center has refurbished the Fireplace Lounge and updated its previous decor, making the lounge easier to use and renewing its look. The newly revamped Fireplace Lounge took only a couple of weeks to assemble but was the result of several months of planning.

"The space is versatile and we hope students, faculty and staff all find it easy to use, comfortable and attractive," said Maria Ciski, University Reservations manager.

Changes made to the lounge include new carpet, furniture and artwork. The student center also installed additional lighting and painted the fireplace.

"Many of the items purchased for this refurbishment will be reused in the newly remodeled Rhatigan Student Center," said Jim Herrman, director of the RSC. "Our goal is to continually maintain a comfortable environment for all students, faculty and staff. The Fireplace Lounge simply could not wait three-to-five years for the total renovation to be completed."

The Fireplace Lounge is located on the northeast end of the first floor in the RSC, and can be reserved for events. Photos of the lounge are also available on http://www.wichita.edu/rsc.
