Leading scholar on Harlem Renaissance to discuss Parks' work

Join a leading scholar on the Harlem Renaissance, John S. Wright, as he discusses the legacy of Gordon Parks. Wright will discuss the variety of artistic media Parks used to come to terms with the culture of contradictions he observed in 20th-century America during "Dark Whispers of Intimate Things: The Renaissance Visions of Gordon Parks" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, in 210 McKnight Art Center West (WSU School of Art and Design). Wright is professor of English and African American Studies and directs the Givens Collection of African American Literature at the University of Minnesota. Admission is free. Come early to see "Crossroads: The Art of Gordon Parks" on the second floor of the Ulrich Museum.
