'The Great Debaters' -- movie and dialogue

Inspired by a true story, "The Great Debaters" chronicles the journey of professor Melvin Tolson, a brilliant, but volatile, debate team coach who uses the power of words to shape a group of underdog students from a small African American college in the Deep South into a historically elite debate team. The movie, starring Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker and rated PG-13, will be shown at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, in 223 Rhatigan Student Center. The movie will be followed by dialogue. The event is co-sponsored by the African American Faculty and Staff Association.
