Exhibit of Gordon Parks papers on display in Special Collections

Special Collections is featuring an exhibit of selections from the Gordon Parks Papers --"Voices from the Archive: Celebrating the Gordon Parks Papers in Special Collections, Wichita State University Libraries."The materials can be viewed in cases outside Special Collections whenever the library is open now through Monday, May 31.

The texts, images and books in this exhibit document the versatile artistry of Gordon Parks (1912-2006) in photography, painting, poetry, prose, music and filmmaking. The preliminary drafts on display reveal rare glimpses of a creative mind actively at work. Special Collections and WSU Libraries is currently processing the Gordon Parks Papers, which preserve the legacy of this remarkable artist, whom Kansas is proud to call its own.

The exhibit is on display in the cases outside Special Collections. The materials can be viewed whenever the library is open during the spring semester which ends May 18. Hours are 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday; 1-5 p.m. Saturday; and 1-7 p.m. Sunday.

There are abbreviated hours during Spring Break, March 24-31. Ablah Library is closed on Easter Sunday, April 4. The schedule is available on the library's Web site, http://library.wichita.edu/hours.html.
