Each February, communities across the nation celebrate the existence of TRIO programs and the positive effects on hundreds of thousands of youth and adults throughout the years. Since 1986, this day of celebration has been recognized as National TRIO Day and is celebrated on TRIO campuses around the nation. WSU's National TRIO Day Celebration will be held from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, in the Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex.

This event provides the perfect venue to showcase the TRIO programs, which include Communication Upward Bound, Disability Support Services, Educational Opportunity Centers, Educational Talent Search Project Discovery, McNair Scholars Program, Student Support Services, Upward Bound Math Science, Upward Bound Wichita Prep, Veterans Upward Bound and special programs such as Kansas Kids @ GEAR UP, the Office of Disability Services and the Office of Policy Analyst to celebrate the academic and career accomplishments of all students from each respective program.

The day's events include educational/motivational tracks geared for middle school, high school and college adult learners. Winners of the TRIO Day Essay Writing Contest and designer of the TRIO logo T-shirt also will be recognized.
