Memorials benefit WSU students

Memorials continue to have a significant impact at WSU. This fiscal year, memorials have contributed $87,919 in support. Four memorials established with the WSU Foundation have reached endowment levels, each creating four distinctive and vital perpetual funds.

Two memorials will benefit the Shocker golf programs. The Vicki Pettit Foss Memorial established the Vicki Pettit Foss Memorial Scholarship in Women's Golf, while the Michael Luethye Memorial established the Mike Luethye Memorial Scholarship. They will support the men's and women's golf programs.

The Paul G. Starr Memorial Scholarship for IMA (IMA Financial Group Inc.) at WSU will provide support for IMA employees and their dependents pursuing a degree at WSU with an annual award of $1,000.

And a scholarship in political science was established through the Dr. John Stanga Memorial, creating the Dr. John E. Stanga Scholarship in Political Science.

These four new scholarships are a testimony to the impact of memorial contributions. All four scholarships will begin awarding in fiscal year 2012.
