Reminders

* Faculty and staff are encouraged to report influenza-like illnesses to Student Health Services. Please practice good prevention habits like handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes properly and staying home when ill. Student Health still has some H1N1 vaccine available at no cost. A donation of some canned goods for the Food Bank is welcome.

* For faculty and staff news through January 2010, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?422. Submit news for Academe to Shannon Littlejohn at shannon.littlejohn@wichita.edu.

* The WSU Department of Physics Spring 2010 Physics Seminar will feature a presentation by professor Kieran Mullen of the University of Oklahoma called "Synthetic Atoms" at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 10) in 128 Jabara Hall. The entire spring seminar series schedule is available at http://www.wichita.edu/j/?411.

* See Chris Rock's "Good Hair" at 6:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 10,) followed by dialogue in 223 RSC. It's a wonderfully insightful and entertaining, yet remarkably serious, documentary about African American hair culture, co-sponsored by the African American Student Association and Office of Multicultural Affairs.

* The webinar "Engaging Students: Practical Strategies for Success" will be hosted by the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success from noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Wireless Learning Space at the Media Resources Center. All faculty, staff and graduate teaching assistants are welcome. RSVP to ofdss@wichita.edu or 978-3209.

* Campus Credit Union's 58th Annual Meeting of the membership will be Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Mosley Street Melodrama. The show will be "The Legend of Molly Malone." Tickets are on sale for $15, normally a $27 value. For more information, call 978-3666 or come by the credit union, next to the WSU Police Station.
