Stephen Imbler speaks at fine arts scholarship luncheon, reconnects with mentor

Stephen Imbler, who received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in music performance in 1974, was the keynote speaker for the College of Fine Arts Scholarship Luncheon on Feb. 10 at the Marcus Welcome Center. He traveled from San Francisco to address the nearly 140 donors and students in attendance. The event is one of seven this year in which donors and their beneficiaries have the opportunity to catch up or maybe meet for the first time.

Imbler established the Stephen V. Imbler Piano Performance Scholarship in 2004. In addition to meeting his scholarship's recipients at the luncheon, seniors Jordan Voth and Joseph Yates, Imbler had the opportunity to reconnect with Paul Reed, associate professor emeritus of music.

Reed was a mentor to Imbler for nine years, during which time they formed a close bond. Reed taught Imbler piano throughout high school and later served as his professor at WSU.
