William Vanderburgh has been named executive director of the Office for Faculty Development and Student Success following an internal search for the position. Creating the new office is a tangible result from the Foundations of Excellence self study conducted last year that called for a single office to coordinate interaction with students new to the university. The office, which combines the former Center for Teaching and Research Excellence, the Emory Lindquist Honors program and the Undergraduate Success programs, also will play a central role in coordinating retention efforts on campus.
According to Associate Provost Keith Pickus, Vanderburgh brings a range of experience in the relevant areas to the new position and he has demonstrated a tremendous ability to work across departmental and divisional lines on behalf of students.
