Admissions recruiting students for Orientation Leader team

The Office of Admissions is gearing up for next year's orientation programs and welcomes your help in recruiting students for its 2010-11 Orientation Leader team. This is a great opportunity to recognize current Wichita State students who you believe would be excellent candidates for this position. If you want to nominate a WSU student who you believe may have the qualifications and skills necessary to be a successful Orientation Leader, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?482, and complete and return the form by Monday, March 22.

We are looking for students who possess strong academic and interpersonal skills, leadership potential, have the confidence to work in a team and a willingness to assist new students as they make their transition to life as a Shocker. The following are the minimum qualifications for the position:

-- Be a positive representative of Wichita State University
-- Cumulative GPA of 2.5
-- Ability to work various dates over the summer and during winter break. Students may take classes or hold other jobs if they do not interfere with orientation programs.

The Orientation Leaders will play a significant role in welcoming and guiding about 1,500 new freshman and transfer students through orientation and WU Camp programs. Each Orientation Leader will lead a small group of students to address and discuss a wide variety of issues, questions and concerns new students and their families face. In addition, Orientation Leaders will have the opportunity to develop skills through workshops, presentations, group facilitation, campus tours, leadership opportunities and more.

All nominees will receive a letter and information explaining the position, the minimum qualifications and the application process.

Please send or fax your completed nomination form to Bobby Gandu, campus box 124, fax to 978-3174 or bobby.gandu@wichita.edu.
