Events to highlight Sexual Violence Awareness Month

In honor of Sexual Violence Awareness Month, FOCUS (Feminists on Campus) will partner with several community agencies to provide information to the WSU community about issues related to sexual violence amongst intimate partners. Information about local services will also be available. The tabling event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, April 12, in the RSC.

In addition, members of Wichita's Start Strong/Choose Respect teen groups will perform guerilla theater skits that draw attention to intimate violence and encourage bystander empowerment.

FOCUS will also be campus sponsors to two other upcoming community events this month: (1) the Denise Brown (sister of Nicole Brown Simpson who was allegedly murdered by an intimate partner) speaking engagement at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20 (benefiting the Women's Initiative Network. Tickets are available at Dillions stores and cost $15 for faculty/staff and $10 for students).

(2) The Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center's annual Take Back the Night March will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 30, in Old Town Square (in front of the Warren Theater).
