WSU alum returns for jazz festival, book signing

Women's Studies alum Michelle Mercer, respected jazz writer and NPR correspondent, will sign copies of her biography of singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell, "Will You Take Me As I Am," at 7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 14) at Watermark Books. Mercer is participating in the Wichita Jazz Festival, April 14-17. For more about Mercer, go to www.michellemercer.com.

Downbeat reviewed Mercer's book, saying, "What makes the book unique . . . is the idiosyncratic approach the author takes, like when she pulls in historical, literary, and cultural figures to amplify some aspects of Mitchell's life and work," an acknowledgement of Mercer's interdisciplinary approach to biography.
