Budding young scientists present research at WSU
Students from nine schools around Kansas, including Wichita Northeast Magnet High School, Chaparral High School, Skyline Middle School and several schools from the Kansas City area will present research that will be judged by scientists from Wichita State, Friends University, Kansas State University and Spirit AeroSystems Inc.
Besides presenting research, students will have an opportunity to see an hour-long science demo show hosted by the Fairmount Center for Science and Mathematics Education. WSU electrical engineering professor Ward Jewell will speak on the energy grid during the 5-7 p.m. dinner and awards presentation.
The top winners in the state contest are selected to go to the American Association for the Advancement of Science/American Junior Academy of Science national meeting in Washington, D.C., in February. Top winners will be invited to publish their work in the publication Transactions of the Kansas Academy of Science.
