College of Engineering to host competition

WSU's College of Engineering will host the 4th Annual Project Lead The Way EDD (Engineering Design and Development) Competition Wednesday, May 12. Students' projects will be on display in the lobby of the Engineering Research Laboratory Building from 4-5 p.m. EDD is the capstone class in the Project Lead The Way high school engineering program. WSU will award a $2,000 PLTW scholarship to each first-place team member; $1,000 to each second-place team member; and $500 to each third-place team member who enrolls in one of WSU's College of Engineering programs in Fall 2010. These scholarships are renewable for four years.

The College of Engineering also will host a PLTW Showcase for students in other PLTW classes, including aerospace engineering, biotechnical engineering, introduction to engineering design and principles of engineering. More than 30 teams will showcase projects and the winners in each category will receive $50 gift certificates.

The event is open to the public and all are invited to attend.
