Briana O'Higgins took the reins as KMUW's new Morning Edition host on May 6 and has already received numerous positive comments from listeners. O'Higgins comes to Wichita from Santa Cruz, Calif., where she worked at KUSP-Central Coast Public Radio. Along with her hosting duties, she will produce local news stories and longer feature reports.

Moving to Kansas from California is a big step, but O'Higgins said she was ready for a change and Wichita seemed perfect. When she visited the station in April, she said she found the staff to be cohesive, talented and hard-working.

"It didn't hurt that KMUW had the fancy Axia console boards I had been lusting after," she said.
