Nationally, business expectations, along with positive economic indicators, continue to confirm that the U.S. economy is recovering from the current recession. In order to compare the national outlook to the local outlook, WSU's Center for Economic Development and Business Research conducted a survey of firms in the regional aviation market. The surveys indicate that Wichita's aviation industry mimics national markets in regard to the companies' profit margins, prices charged for products/services, level of employment and consumer behavior. However, the aviation industry in Wichita may be lagging behind the national industry trend when it comes to demand for products/service and cost of credit conditions for businesses and consumers.
