Curator Ron Michael will examine the work of four star artists from Kansas and discuss ways that the signature spaces and places of the state informed their artistic practice with "Looking at Kansas: Visual Artists from the Sunflower State" during Senior Wednesday (for art enthusiasts 55+) Aug. 18. Artists include John Steuart Curry (1897-1946), born in Dunavant; Birger Sandzen (1871-1954), who lived in Lindsborg from 1894-1954; Henry Varnum Poor (1887-1970), born in Chapman; and Bruce Conner (1933-2008), born in McPherson. Michael is curator of the Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg. This event is held in conjunction with the ongoing exhibition "Where Am I? Artists Explore Spaces and Places." Complimentary refreshments at 10 a.m. and presentation at 10:30 a.m. Free admission.
