Young people involved in mentoring programs are more likely to stay in school, improve their grades and enroll in college, according to a Big Brothers Big Sisters study. If you are interested in participating in the Kansas Mentors State Employee Mentoring Program, check out http://www.ksmentors.ks.gov/goldstar.htm. Be sure to submit a state employee mentoring request form to your supervisor for approval and return the completed form to the Office of Human Resources for final review. Remember, time is granted only for mentoring that takes place during your regular work schedule. For more information, contact Tanya Wickersham at 978-3644 or tanya.wickersham@wichita.edu.
