* SPTE (Student Perception of Teaching Effectiveness) request forms are due to the Social Science Research Lab by today (Friday, Oct. 1). Mail the form to campus box 107 or hand carry it to 429 Lindquist Hall. If you need an SPTE request form, go to http://www.webs.wichita.edu\sslab.

* All faculty and staff are encouraged to register to receive ShockerAlert, a free service that sends a text message to registered cell phones and e-mails any time WSU closes due to weather or if there's a campus emergency. * A members' opening party will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Ulrich Museum. Meet, mingle and celebrate the 2010 fall exhibitions, "Art on Speed" and "Hindsight is Always 20/20." * At 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, the annual ceremony of remembrance will be held at Wichita State's Memorial '70, located on Alumni Drive near 18th and Hillside. * Student Health will begin administering seasonal flu vaccines Monday, Oct. 4, in 209 Ahlberg Hall. The cost is $20 for staff/faculty and $10 for students. If you bring in two canned goods for the Food Bank, Student Health will reduce the price by $5. The vaccine is available from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m., 2-4 p.m. Wednesday; and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday except for Oct. 8, when it's 8 a.m.-noon. Gardner, director of research for the Collegiate Employment Research Institute at Michigan State University, will be on campus Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 5-6, for presentations on the transition from college to work, early socialization and career progression in the workplace, workforce readiness and other areas related to college student studies.
