Reminders

* The Oct. 25 Faculty Senate meeting has been canceled to allow time to assemble data on retention and faculty loads. In the meantime, a discussion is encouraged within colleges on two proposals at the last meeting -- the proposal to declare a major (areas of interest) on admission; and the proposal to assign a faculty mentor to each incoming student. The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 8.

* Joyce Ward in the registrar's office is retiring. Come enjoy refreshments and wish her happy trails from 2-4 p.m. today (Friday, Oct. 22) in 203 RSC. A presentation and speech will take place at 2:30 p.m.

* Join the Student Activities Council family committee at its annual Trunk or Treat from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in the Coleman Tennis Complex parking lot. * A memorial event to celebrate the life and contributions of Lowell D. Holmes, founder and former professor of the Department of Anthropology at WSU, is set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, on the WSU campus. http://www.wichita.edu/j/?728
