SR-71 pilot Adelbert "Buz" Carpenter returns to Kansas to recount his adventures cracking the sound barrier with a presentation "Breaking the Sound Barrier" at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, in the CAC Theater. The U.S. SR-71 aircraft combined speed, agility and stealth, zooming at Mach 3 (more than three times faster than the speed of sound). Carpenter will show film clips and images as he discusses his years and mastery of this phenomenal plane and its spectacular speed. "Breaking the Sound Barrier" is in conjunction with the current exhibit "Art on Speed" at the Ulrich Museum, and is cosponsored by the Kansas Aviation Museum, Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center and the Wichita Aero Club.
