Lisa Bennett, master's degree, communication sciences and disorders

Lisa Bennett, a graduate student working toward her Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders, will graduate this December. She attended Mulvane High School and previously completed a bachelor's degree in psychology from Wichita State University.

Bennett has overcome her own speech impediment, and plans on becoming a speech and language pathologist in the future. Her story shows an incredible amount of perseverance and dedication throughout her college experience and life.

She currently works in practicum as part of the Evelyn Hendren Cassat Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic where she administers to clients. Her major interest is in speech fluency, in which she plans on becoming a specialist.

Dustin Kuhn, bachelor's degree, sport management

Dustin Kuhn, an undergraduate sport management major, is completing his bachelor's degree this December. Kuhn, a Wichita native and graduate of Wichita East High School, was very involved on campus at Wichita State University.

He was a member of the Dean's Scholar Program, Student Ambassador Society, Student Government Association, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, Emerging Professionals of Wichita, Sport Management Student Association, Emory Lindquist Honors Program and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

In addition to his on-campus activities, Kuhn has interned with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Wichita Wild, Intrust Bank Arena and the WSU Intercollegiate Athletic Association.

Kuhn is leaving his professional options open after college. He's considering several different job opportunities in addition to returning to Wichita State for graduate school.

Megan Rakes, master's degree, sport management

Megan Rakes, a graduate student, will receive her master's in sports management this December. Rakes attended Minneola High School in Minneola, Kan., and received her bachelor's degree in physical education preK-12 from Wichita State University in May 2009.

Rakes has been a member of the WSU Track and Field team since fall 2005. As a thrower, she holds the 7th place all-time record for women's shot-put. In addition to track and field, Rakes has stayed busy during her collegiate career.

She was a member of Student Ambassador Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Team K-12, Kansas Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the Sport Management Student Association.

Rakes works as an intern for USD 259 Director of Athletics Bill Faflick. She hopes to find a job in physical education and coach, and would like to become an athletic director. She also hasn't ruled out coaching college track.
