$44,000 Barton Scholar to be named Friday at Wichita State

The winner of Wichita State University's $44,000 2011-2012 Clay Barton Scholarship in Business will be announced at a news conference at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in the Devlin Hall conference room on the WSU campus.

There are six finalists for the scholarship, all from Kansas. To be considered, high school seniors must have a 3.5 GPA and a 24 on their ACT, and be a declared business major.

The winner will receive $11,000 a year for four years to attend WSU.

The Barton Scholarship is the biggest business scholarship in the state. It was established in 1991 for the son of the late Rent-A-Center Chairman Emeritus W. Frank Barton, for whom WSU's business school is named.
