* In Academe news, Shirley Beggs was honored locally, Ed Flentje shared political expertise, Glyn Rimmington trotted the globe in behalf of global learning, and Riki Wells published a children's book. Send news for Academe to shannon.littlejohn@wichita.edu. http://www.wichita.edu/j/?807

* The National Science Foundation will hold a workshop, "Science: Becoming the Messenger," on Thursday, Jan. 27, in Lawrence, Kan., for principal investigators, early career researchers and engineers from universities in Kansas who would like to learn to communicate effectively to a broad audience. There is no registration fee to attend but pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 14. For registration information and more, go to http://www.wichita.edu/j/?803.

* The Office of Human Resources' new online training opportunity, "Timekeeping; Policies and Procedures," can be found on myWSU under the Faculty/Staff Resources tab in the Human Resources links channel by clicking the HR Training Online link. Other modules will be brought online soon.

* WSU has used Electronic Personnel Action Forms (ePAFs) for student and graduate assistants for more than a year. Locating the correct dates and other information can be challenging for any originator. Dust off the ePAF cobwebs and join us in the lab Thursday, Jan. 13 or 20, for a refresher session. http://www.wichita.edu/j/?805

* Remember to submit your spring semester campus events to the online calendar for Wichita State at http://www.wichita.edu/calendarsubmit.
