'Teaching Large Classes: Issues and Ideas'

Ron Matson, chair of the Department of Sociology, will present "Teaching Large Classes: Issues and Ideas" from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in 115B Neff Hall. Please RSVP to ofdss@wichita.edu or 978-3209. Large classes present a set of issues that have to be addressed by the teacher.

Some issues relate to classic problems of effective pedagogy -- student engagement, assessment, active learning and maintaining high expectations, to name a few. In a broader context, students and universities continue to change at a rapid pace. This session will present some ideas about teaching that keep us ahead of the changes we encounter while embracing the ideals of effective pedagogy. Come share your ideas and raise questions that make us all better teachers.
