* Tanya Synar, associate professor of visual arts at Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas, will present a lecture at 2:30 p.m. today (Thursday, March 3) in 210 McKnight Art Center. Synar's sound installation "The Yellowstone Project: Phase I, 2009-11," is on display in the Clayton Staples Gallery in McKnight Art Center through Friday, March 4. * In an effort to promote the environmental and cross-disciplinary nature of the geology department with engineering and physics, this week's colloquium featuring Andre Revil from the Colorado School of Mines will present "Geoelectrical methods in environmental geosciences" at 4 p.m. today (Thursday, March 3) in the Media Resources Center.

* WSU Opera Theatre, in collaboration with the Wichita Scottish Rite, will present Mozart's opera "The Magic Flute" ("Die Zauberflote") in the historic Scottish Rite building's grand auditorium today (Thursday, March 3) through Saturday, March 5. http://www.wichita.edu/j/?894
