McNair Scholars Program accepting nominations

The McNair Scholars Program is now accepting nominations of outstanding undergraduate students to apply for the McNair Scholars Program for the 2011-2012 academic year. The program serves first-generation college students with low income and prepares them for the transition into graduate school, and ultimately to obtain doctoral degrees. Applications may be retrieved from the McNair office in Room 173B Grace Wilkie Annex, and they will be accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, April 18.

In particular, the program targets students who are traditionally underrepresented in graduate education, including African-American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Hispanic/Latino and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.

Students must also have a minimum GPA of 2.75 with at least 40 credit hours completed and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

We do not want to overlook any student who may be eligible for program participation, so please help us identify qualified students.
Applications may be retrieved from the McNair office in Room 173B of Grace Wilkie Annex and they will be accepted until Monday, April 18, 2011, at 5:00 p.m.
