Get to The Garage for WSU student's volcano benefit

A weekend fundraiser will benefit WSU education major Janine Keeler, who is traveling to Hawaii to live near and study an active volcano for three weeks in July. The bands Torch and Scragtown Werewolves will play from 8:30 p.m. until closing, Saturday, June 25, at The Garage Bar and Grill at 517 W. Douglas in Wichita's Delano District. There is no cover charge, but donations will be accepted.

Keeler is an education undergraduate student at WSU who is going to live on an active volcano in Hawaii for three weeks starting July 15 as part of a program through the University of Hawaii-Hilo.

Keeler, a nontraditional student with grown children, already has a master's degree in anthropology from Wichita State and another undergrad degree in criminal justice from Kansas Wesleyan.

She will be living near the summit and attending class every day. She is interested in teaching earth and space science to high schoolers.
