Smith appears as guest on ESPN's 'Outside the Lines'

Darron Smith, assistant professor in Wichita State University's College of Health Professions, was a guest on the ESPN program "Outside the Lines" Sunday, June 26. Smith received considerable attention after co-authoring a blog about what he calls a racially selective honor code system at Brigham Young University. Smith was an adjunct faculty member in the sociology department at BYU for 10 years before coming to Wichita State.

The blog came about after BYU dismissed Brandon Davies from its basketball team for violating the honor code.

Smith did a small observational study that suggested that African American student-athletes were dismissed from BYU at higher rates than white student-athletes. The blog went viral and has brought much attention to the issue.
